Ben Mumphrey

Ben Mumphrey (born in New Orleans, LA) is an audio engineer, record producer and musician.

Some of his work credited as producer or co-producer includes the Frank Black albums Show Me Your Tears,[1] 93-03[2] and Devil's Workshop,[3] all released on Cooking Vinyl Records, In The Night,[4] the 1998 album by Famous Monsters (known mostly because the band featured White Zombie bassist Sean Yseult[5]) released by Bong Load Custom Records and The Chaos In Order[6] by the Los Angeles group Let's Go Sailing.

Musical releases which he engineered or engineered in-part include The Pixies' songs "Bam Thwok" (which, on June 23, 2004, was the first official Number One track on the UK Download Chart[7]) and "Ain't That Pretty At All" (a Warren Zevon cover from the Artemis Records album Enjoy Every Sandwich: The Songs of Warren Zevon),[8] Frank Black's albums Black Letter Days (Cooking Vinyl),[9] Honeycomb (EMI / Back Porch Records),[10] One More Road For The Hit and Snake Oil, The Breeders' 2009 EP, Fate to Fatal[11] (on which he also played bass guitar on the track "Pinnacle Hollow"), the 2008 4AD Records album Mountain Battles[12] and the song "German Demonstration"[13] (the B-side to the vinyl 7" single, "We're Gonna Rise"), "Goin' Home" by B.B. King with Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk (the title track from the Vanguard Records album Goin' Home: A Tribute To Fats Domino),[14] Alligator Records' American Patchwork[15] by Anders Osborne, Sub Pop Records' Dynamite Steps[16] by The Twilight Singers and Saturnalia[17] by The Gutter Twins and Bloodshot Records' Can You Deal With It?[18] by Andre Williams & the New Orleans Hellhounds. He also engineered and played drums on the vinyl 7" single "Hard Luck Guy" by Greg Dulli (also featuring Quintron), released in 2007 by Shake-It Records as part of a series covering the songs of the late Muscle Shoals guitarist and songwriter Eddie Hinton.[19]

Mumphrey has been the chief engineer at Studio in the Country, in Washington Parish, LA since 2007.
